I have been practicing law since 1977. I took my undergraduate degree, in economics and business, magna cum laude, from the University of Vermont in 1969 and promptly went on active duty as a career officer in the U.S. Army (Signal Corps). Four years, a wife and son later it was time for a change and I entered law school. After graduating cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1976, I practiced with a large commercial firm in Buffalo for two years and then returned to Vermont as a principal in a three man practice.

In 1984 I joined this firm’s predecessor and for the past 30+ years have concentrated in commercial, real estate, and construction litigation, personal injury, bank counsel, business organizations, municipal law, real estate and probate.  Clients have included slate quarrying and production businesses, real estate developers, municipalities and individuals.

My wife and I are long-time residents of Poultney where I have served on the planning commission and as town agent and town moderator. I am the town’s attorney. I previously taught as an adjunct professor at Green Mountain College, a nationally recognized environmental liberal arts college.  I recently completed a six-year term as a member of its board trustees and its executive committee.
